Small Bathroom Renovations on the Gold Coast

We renovate small bathrooms across the Gold Coast and into the Northern Rivers. A small bathroom is a design problem before it's a building one. Getting the layout, the tile size and the storage right is what makes a compact room feel generous, and none of that costs more than getting it wrong.

We give a small room the same drawing, the same waterproofing and the same finish standard as a large one.

What’s included

What the work includes

This is the work we take care of on every job, and you’ll have it in writing before we start.

  • Layout options drawn to scale before work starts
  • Demolition and removal of the old bathroom
  • Plumbing and electrical rough-in
  • Waterproofing to AS 3740, with the certificate
  • Large-format tiling to keep grout lines to a minimum
  • Joinery and storage built into the wall where it buys back floor
  • Installation of the fixtures and finishes you've chosen
  • Water test, walk-through and a final clean

Tiles, stone, tapware and joinery are chosen with you during the design stage, and priced once you’ve settled on them. That way you’re choosing what you actually want rather than working back from a list.

What it involves

How a small bathroom renovation actually runs

Every stage happens in this order, and you’ll know which one you’re in and what comes next.

  1. 01

    Layout first

We draw two or three options for the room to scale. In a small bathroom the difference between a good layout and an awkward one is usually a single fixture moved a few hundred millimetres.

  2. 02

    Strip-out and rough-in

The old room comes out and the services go in. Small rooms often have the shower, basin and toilet on one wall already, which can make relocating them simpler than people expect.

  3. 03

    Waterproofing

The membrane goes on and is certified, then we flood-test before tiling.

  4. 04

    Tiling

Large-format tile means fewer grout lines, which is most of what makes a compact room feel calm. We set the tiling out so the full tiles land in the places you look at.

  5. 05

    Fit-off and handover

The joinery goes in, then the fixtures and finishes you chose. Then we water-test, walk you through it and clean up.

Finishes and materials

What you’ll be choosing from

Large-format tile

Bigger tiles mean fewer lines across the floor and the walls, and that does more for the sense of space than any single other choice.

Wall-hung vanity

Seeing the floor run underneath the vanity makes the room read as wider than it is, and it makes cleaning far easier.

Linear and tile-insert wastes

A linear channel or a tile-insert grate keeps the floor reading as one surface rather than being interrupted by a round waste in the middle of it.

Recessed storage

A niche built into the wall cavity gives you somewhere to put things without anything projecting into a room that has no room to spare.

Common questions

About small bathroom renovations, answered

Sometimes, usually as a shower over a bath. We'll draw it to scale so you can see what it does to the rest of the room before you decide.

Not as much less as people expect. The same trades, the same waterproofing and the same certification apply whatever the floor area, and tiling a small room can take longer per square metre because of the cuts.

Usually, yes. Tile size, a wall-hung vanity, the position of the mirror and where the light goes will change how big a room feels far more cheaply than structural work.
