The homes here
Lismore's older housing is timber, raised, and often very high off the ground. Getting under the floor makes moving plumbing genuinely easy, which is why layouts that would be expensive on a coastal slab are affordable here. The trade-off is a floor that moves, so the waterproofing has to be detailed for it.
A great many Lismore bathrooms were put back together after the 2022 floods, and the standard of that work varies enormously. Some were done properly. Others were sheeted and tiled over a substrate that never fully dried, or over no new membrane at all. We open a section up and show you what is actually there before we quote.

Where we work
We cover Lismore, East Lismore, Goonellabah and the villages around them, with Ballina half an hour east and Byron about forty-five minutes.
It is inland from the rest of our Northern Rivers work, and we program it in blocks so the trades run consecutively.
Common questions
It depends most on what a previous repair left behind. A room that was rebuilt well is a straightforward renovation; a room that was tiled over damp framing is a bigger job, and pretending otherwise in a quote helps nobody. The measure is free and it is where that gets decided.
Often, yes, and it is worth knowing either way. We cut a small inspection opening, look at the substrate and the wall junctions, and tell you what we find. If it was done well we will say so and quote a much smaller job.
Two things, mostly. Sheeting fixed to framing that had not dried, which rots quietly behind the tiles, and tiling laid with no new membrane underneath, which looks finished and is not. Neither shows for a year or two.
More cheaply than almost anywhere. Being able to work under the floor means moving a waste is a normal job rather than a slab cut, so a layout change in Lismore usually costs a fraction of the same change on the coast.
